sweetie : They are cute, but are not to be fed. You may regret at some point,, just saying.

@mutton : Thank you. I don't feed them on purpose. I'm going to start picking up strays food bowl. I sure don't want them in my house 4951

Sweetie, if people keep throwing or setting food out and the racoons get use to getting fed at their home, one day when they stop leaving food out or move out, they will try to tear apart the outer part of their home to find that food. 4951

I wonder if raccoons are reincarnated mothers-in-law? They sure are mean and nasty with some
having rabies. 4951

@TXSunDvl : That food outdoors will attract other critters too. I never leave pet food out because I don't want critters in my attic. I've had squirrels in there before and that was bad enough. Anything bigger would really be bad. 4951

@TXSunDvl : They're so doggone cute!! We have critters eating the bird seed cylinder hanging from one of our trees. It's flavored with capsaicin, so whoever it is is likely running for a drink of water afterward! We're buying a 2-camera critter cam just so we can be entertained watching all of this happen while we're asleep. 4951

@HollyHobby : Probably squirrels eating the bird seed. They find ways to get to it no matter where it is. 4951

@TXSunDvl : It's flavored with capsaicin, which they are supposed to not like since they have taste buds. We'll get that critter cam up in the next week or so, and we'll find out for sure! It could be possums, too. 4951

My sister lives in Roman Forest. She had a neighbor who fed the raccoons. My sister feeds deer. The lady died. Now the raccoons come for the deer food. We started feeding birds. To feed the squirrels too we got unsalted peanuts. Birds will fly off with a nut and the squirrels eat the bird seed. Only problem was. we had the food on our screened in patio. Acter awhile we saw a hole in our screen. Turned out to be a rat. Moved the food and fixed the screen. 150.00 later it was not the rat we killed but another one. New hole in the screen. Bait the trap and in the morning it is tripped and no rat. Not fixing the screen again yet. 4951

They used to sleep in my front porch with our outdoor cats. They always got along unless the boss cat was in a bad mood. They'd be waiting for us to put out the nighttime food, wait for the cats to finish and chow down.

@TheBeyonder : at least they had manners!😂 4951
