@Fuegofrio : Is this area addressed in the promises of Friendswood, or the city? If not, have you notified Dave Martin's office? 4951

Maybe this will address a big part of the problem. Wonder how long the effectiveness of the drainage system has been limited. 4951

@Etarver : oh but they will be destroying all the natural curves and beauty. They are planning to channelize it to between 70 and 100 feet wide. Tons of trees will be coming down as well. 4951

So many questions... So it's going to up the "Trails" fees? Is this just Bear Branch or are the other villages going to chip in? And if it's just Bear Branch - that means we will become a lake cause all the water will take the path of least resistance -straight to Bear Branch. 4951

@mare567 : I would think it is being paid for through the Harris County Flood Control District. I don't think this is going to add to our trails fee. Wouldn't that mean the Trails Association was admitting they were responsible for this clean up all along? 4951

@BlackDiamond : Actually concreting the area effects the absorption of water. It's better to keep it green. 4951

@fudgiesmom2 : That map is great, thank you so much for posting it! I wonder if they are going to fix all of the areas that have buildup or errosion...or just stick to the Bens Branch... 4951

Fuegofrio : I have never heard of Taylor Gulley. Thanks for the info!

@TEXASGIRLMAMMA : Taylor Gully runs from near K Park down to San Jac East. This gully has been, in the past year and a half filled with silt and extra runoff from unmanaged clear cutting by Perry Homes and its subsidiaries just over the county line at the end of Woodland Hills. This caused the May flooding in Elm Grove and the Imelda flooding in Sherwood Trails, Elm Grove and Mills Branch. I know this 1st hand as I can go out my back gate and see the gully and the silt colored water in there. 4951

All of this is for naught unless the root cause is addressed: Taylor Gulley. Taylor Gulley needs to be cut straight back to the East San Jac and maintained (much like the bayou is cut and maintained in Riverchase). Presently, Taylor Gulley is unmaintained past the back of Woodstream and terminates in a hard left hand turn into a mess of downed trees, bramble and illegally dumped trash. Until the inadequacies and disrepair of Taylor Gulley is addressed and properly maintained, everything upstream will continue to flood. Although the East San Jac crested at around 8:30 pm during Imelda, the water in Woodstream kept rising until 1:30 am due to the poor drainage infrastructure of Taylor Gulley.

@Fuegofrio :

Isn't Taylor gulley in Montgomery county? 4951
