Humble PD Catches Suspected Thief After Auto and Foot Pursuit
On the evening of May 5th Humble PD was advised of a male stealing merchandise from Macy's inside Deerbrook Mall. The Suspect quickly exited the store, got into his vehicle and fled the parking lot of the mall.
Loss prevention employees provided a detailed description of the vehicle and license plate making it possible for our Night Shift A officers to quickly locate the suspect vehicle. A traffic stop was attempted but the suspect refused to stop, sped off and began to evade.
Officers pursued the suspect vehicle until it became disabled when the suspect struck another vehicle. The suspect then began to flee on foot, jumping off the freeway and running into a nearby neighborhood.
The female officer that was pursuing the suspect was undeterred by having to jump off the freeway or chasing the suspect into the neighborhood by herself. It didn’t take long for her to catch up to the suspect and put him in custody.
Backup officers arrived shortly after and assisted in getting the suspect back to the scene. The total amount of the theft was approximately $1,500.00. The suspect is now facing multiple charges.
