In The Addams Family, America’s darkest family comes to life in this original musical about love, family, honesty and growing up. The Addams Family, a comical feast that embraces the wackiness in every family, features an original story and it’s every father’s nightmare: Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family– a man her parents have never met. And if that wasn’t upsetting enough, Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before– keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s “normal” boyfriend and his parents.

“The Addams Family will be the grandest Humble High School production in over a decade,” Brandy Barfield Rood, Humble High School Theater Arts Director said. “The Humble High School Theatre Department received a grant from the Humble ISD Education Foundation through the generosity of Dr. Al Moore that will allow us to put on an extraordinarily entertaining production. For many of the cast and crew, this will be their first musical. What’s even more special is that theatre students are collaborating with students in Career and Technical Education, American Sign Language, Life Skills, Art, Choir, Dance and other classes to bring Humble High School together for this awesome project.”

Rood, in her 21st year as the HHS Theatre Arts Director, directs a cast of young hopefuls in her interpretation of The Addams Family.

“We are beyond grateful for this opportunity to explore such an iconic musical that explores universal themes about family, relationships and embracing individuality,” Rood said. “We are so excited to finally be doing a musical, to be collaborating with so many amazing teachers and departments and are thrilled that our students are getting to have this experience.”
