Notice of Stranger Danger Incident at Creekwood Middle School
From Humble ISD:
Creekwood Middle School: September 20, 2022
September 20, 2022
Dear Creekwood Middle School Families,
At around 7:30 a.m. this morning, some of the cross country girls were running on the greenbelt behind the west end of the campus near Sandy Forks Drive, when they came across a man walking on the greenbelt. He was talking to himself and appeared to be intoxicated. The students reported having seen him in the same area a few times before. The man has been described as in his 20s or early 30s with dark hair and a thin build, wearing an orange shirt, cargo pants, airpods and carrying a glass bottle and a crossbody satchel.
Although there was no engagement between the students and the man, the situation made the girls feel uncomfortable. The Humble ISD Police Department has been contacted and officer patrols in the area will be increased.
This is a good opportunity to emphasize the following safety tips with your children:
* If anything unusual occurs, tell an adult immediately. Parents and teachers need to know what happened right away.
* Walk or bike to and from school in groups.
* Never talk to strangers or accept rides from them.
*Arrange for immediate access to neighbors and other trusted adults who could answer questions or be contacted in an emergency.
*Tour the neighborhood with your child to identify safe and dangerous circumstances.
*Never get into a car, enter a home, look for a lost pet, or accept candy or toys from an adult, unless your parents know what you are doing and have given you their permission first.
As always, we encourage any safety concerns to be immediately reported to our school staff, Humble ISD Police at 281-641-7900, or through the Humble ISD iHELP app: www.humbleisd.net/ih elpinfo
