The EMCID Board of Directors has announced a proposed 200,000 square foot conference and events center which will be located in Valley Ranch Town Center. The new center will feature meeting space large enough to hold major corporate events, trade shows, local and regional youth sporting events, consumer shows, galas, wedding receptions, proms and other private events.

Construction is projected to begin in late 2022 and the center plans to open mid-2024. The cost of the facility, site preparation, and furniture, fixtures and equipment is estimated to be approximately $90 million plus an additional parking structure projected at about $18 million. The project will be supported through sales tax revenue bonds.

@Jonn : Conventions and shows like gun shows and home and garden shows make big money. It's a little more difficult to transform these sorts of places for weddings and private events. Lots of expensive decorations to make it look more personal.

That looks like a nice facility. This does not bode well for the Humble Convention Center. It will be difficult for them to compete with the new facility unless major renovations are done.

@TownHubAdmin : this will be a huge boost for EMCID. With the upcoming completion of the Grand Parkway, the tech companies locating in the Spring area and the companies coming to the industrial park, this center will provide a needed facility for conventions and trade shows. This brings in visitors to eat at restaurants and stay in hotels. A win win.

I know people that retired and moved to New Caney for the peace and quiet. Who would have thought the city would have followed them that far in 2000 ??

@gigem09 : Developers dream big but usually deliver zilch.

I remember the big plans that a developer had for the piece of land that is between KWD and NP on the frontage road. Big upscale retail and dining, they said. We need to clear-cut the land so we can build big, they said. Now it's an ugly scar on KW's front door step These developers sell the timber to the mills and then scrap the planned developments.

@kingwooddiscgolf : EMCID still hasn't received a sign off from The Woodlands Corp on a second dog wash so near the RV Park.
