COVID-19 Texas Relief Update from Rep Dan Crenshaw

From Rep. Dan Crenshaw:

"As Texas begins to reopen its economy, I would like to share with you many of the ways the federal government is continuing to aid Texans impacted by the coronavirus pandemic and provide some helpful resources to you.

· Impact Payments: the IRS has issued nearly eight million Texans a total of over $14.3 billion in economic impact payments, and more checks will soon be delivered. To receive these payments ($1,200 for those eligible) no action is required for most individuals. To enter your payment info if you are a non-filer, please click HERE:
www.irs.gov/coronavi rus/non-filers-enter -payment-info-here
...and to check the status of your payment, click HERE:
crenshaw.house.gov/c omponents/redirect/r .aspx?ID=896-792273

· Small Business Relief: As of April 16, the SBA has issued over $28.4 billion in loans to over 134,000 Texas small businesses, and the program was recently replenished with new funds, allowing for additional assistance to tens of thousands of businesses across the state. To learn about small business relief options, click HERE:
crenshaw.house.gov/c omponents/redirect/r .aspx?ID=897-792273

· Student Loan Relief: The Department of Education has suspended student loan payments and waived interest, which could help up to three million Texans.

· Higher Education Aid: Texas was provided more than $1 billion to support higher education institutions.

· Unemployment Assistance: With federal assistance, Texas has implemented an expansion of its unemployment insurance program, allowing previously ineligible workers to apply and granting many individuals up to thirteen weeks of additional unemployment benefits. To apply for unemployment, please visit the Texas Workforce Commission's website:
crenshaw.house.gov/c omponents/redirect/r .aspx?ID=898-792273

· Aid to State and Local Governments: The Texas government and many local governments in the state will receive a total of $11.2 billion in aid through the CARES Act to assist with recovery efforts.

· Safety Equipment: FEMA and HHS are coordinating to ensure our healthcare workers and first responders have access to the necessary personal protective equipment (PPE), resulting in millions of much-needed items being delivered to our state. Information on that crucial work can be found HERE:
crenshaw.house.gov/c omponents/redirect/r .aspx?ID=899-792273

· Transportation Aid: The Department of Transportation has appropriated $1.1 billion to assist Texas public transportation agencies in responding to the crisis.

Now that we've made progress fighting the pandemic, it's time to begin reopening our economy so that Americans can have the freedom to return to work. While we have much work ahead of us, you may be assured that I am continuing to fight for you and all who have been impacted by the economic downturn.

not one mention of the people that have died from this virus, not one mention about our healthcare workers, its all about the money. For a Republican that hates socialism and deficits, when it comes to handing out other peoples money well as long as its a Republican President handing it out left and right, deficits no problem, let the next generation take care of it. Party over country, Money over People

The difference is the left hands out money for stupid, unimportant reasons. The right hands out money in a crisis.

@bittone : And if he would have mentioned those things, you'd have found something else to whinge about. I'm left of center on nearly everything and I'm still sick and tired of the left playing these ridiculous "gotcha" games. Grow. The. Hell. Up.

@CST : here you go: While the government in shelling out billions of dollars to help citizens. Many will use that money to pay rent. 2/3 of rental units in the state are owned and managed by Limited Partnerships, where more than 1/2 of the limited partners are Immigrants and Foreign Nationals. Companies receiving hundreds of million in taxpayer funds, again 1/3 of those are foreign own, through Private Equity funds or limited partnerships where foreigners get a large portion of the revenue. Even the farm bell- outs are going to foreign nationals. You people yell and scream about Socialism but think its fine to shell out billions of taxpayers dollars, where a substantial portion will flow right into the hands of foreign investors. You of all people have yelled and screamed about illegal immigrants and globalism, well guess what your President is hand feeding the globalist and immigrants both legal and illegal with billions of your tax dollars and yet you are okay with this. More than 1/3 of small eateries in this state are owned by foreigners and more than 1/3 are owned by illegal immigrants, but yeah you make sure you take care of them because.

@justanirishgirl : Its not from the left, its from someone that dont understand the speaking from both sides of your mouth. You scream and yell socialism is bad, but cheer when billions of taxpayers money is just handing out like candy. You scream and yell about globalism and then cheer when our government bells out foreign investors, illegal immigrants and more. You scream about bailouts when the Democrats do it, but when Republicans do it, you stand and cheer. WTF

@BooBear : Our healthcare workers should have had PPE two - three months ago, getting it to them months later, when so many have already gotten sick and some died, is nothing to cheer about. Its shameful

I think some of this stimulus money went overboard. I know people who received this who are still working. I am not quite sure why they received it. One of them lives with me.
