New restaurant off WLH pkwy By Fiesta Azteca it looks like they're opening on December 10th.

@Summerbreeze : I ate at Fiesta Azteca last night. It was open and so was Pink Shrimp cafe 2 doors down. I got to the restaurant at 5:30 and stayed until 730. When I drove up no one was at either restaurant and no one was at either one when I left. And both were open.

@sweetie : Could have been a soft opening, or practice run for the newest one.

When I was able to eat Chinese food and seafood I really enjoyed Imperial Cafe in that same shopping strip.

The Pink Shrimp is super clean and the food is good.

Very very nice people working there. They use real silverware too, and it isn't the light weight crap you find at most places where you serve yourself.

Overall, I don't frequent places if I have to wait on myself. Defeats the whole going out to eat process. I think a restaurant needs to be just that, a restaurant. They tend to do better if they have waitstaff.

I think they are deciding on what kind of place they are. I think they opened on a shoestring budget and that is just going to be hard on them. You have paper menus when you walk in, then you line up to place your order. Then you wait on yourself to get your drinks. Yet they have someone walking around pretty regularly to see if you need anything. It is disjointed, imo.

I hope people will go, and I wish them all the success in the world.

I had never even heard of the pink shrimp until today. They didn't do any advertising.

@Summerbreeze, that is the number one downfall of most places. Word of mouth will not pay the bills.

For those of you wondering, I stopped in and took a photo of the menu. Yes, it might be online, but I was in the area so here it is.

@magnoliamam : Not necessarily a hard place to OPEN a restaurant. But more likely a hard place to KEEP a restaurant open.

@Fallon : Did you notice what kind of bread Pink Shrimp uses for their Po-Boys?

We went to Pink Shrimp Cafe last week but we were not impressed at all. Our appetizer was missing the avocado and had to be re-made, one meal of the four didn't come out so we had to wait for it, and the poboy had hardly any shrimp on it. I know there are growing pains when restaurants first open so I'll give them another try in a few weeks.
