The Lone Star College-Kingwood Big Band will celebrate America's birthday early with the seventh annual Patriotic Celebration Concert on Saturday, June 29.
This concert, sponsored by the Rotary Club of East Montgomery County, will take place at 2 p.m. in the college's Student Conference Center. The band will perform patriotic favorites and jazz music from the Big Band era in honor of the Independence Day Holiday.
"Student musicians in our area often do not have the resources to pursue a degree in their chosen profession. We support that need through these types of activities, but scholarships for student musicians is just a small part of Rotary's efforts dedicated to the provision of scholarship funds to students in our area," said Jim Stubbs, club president and dean of the Fire Science, Letters, Art, and Kinesiology division at LSC-Kingwood.
Tickets to the Patriotic Celebration Concert are $10 for general admission and $5 for students ages 18 and younger. Children under 12 are free. Only cash or checks (no credit cards please) will be accepted. Tickets are available at the door. Proceeds from this concert will benefit LSC-Kingwood music scholarships and other Rotary projects.
