A suspect with four prior DWI arrests has been charged with Intoxication Assault with a Motor Vehicle after he struck a pedestrian in Humble.
According to reports from PCT 4, on February 24, 2019, deputies with Constable Mark Herman's Office responded to the 20100 block of Kenswick Drive in Humble in reference to an auto pedestrian vehicle crash.
Upon deputies arriving, they were advised by witnesses that a vehicle ran the designated stop sign and struck a pedestrian who was crossing the roadway in the designated crosswalk.
The driver was detained and identified as Loyd Nelson, who displayed several signs of intoxication. Standardized Field Sobriety Tests were administered and it was discovered that he was driving while intoxicated.
Further investigation revealed that Loyd Nelson had a DWI ignition interlock device installed in his vehicle at the time of the crash as well as four prior convictions for Driving While intoxicated.
Emergency Medical Services arrived on scene and the pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with non life threatening injuries.
"Loyd Nelson was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Intoxication Assault with a Motor Vehicle. His bond was set at $5,000.00 out of the 180th District Court." - Constable Mark Herman
