Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital recently donated two "CPR in Schools" training kits to Kingwood High School.
After learning that the campus had lost their CPR training kits in Hurricane Harvey flooding, the hospital wanted to help. The donation is an extension of the Memorial Hermann Northeast sponsorship of the 2018 Greater Lake Houston Heart Walk.
This spring, Kingwood High School Student Council and the nursing staff provided two opportunities for seniors to take CPR training before graduation. The campus was able to train over 380 seniors using the CPR in Schools Kits. Additionally, 143 seniors submitted documentation that they were already trained in CPR.
The CPR in Schools curriculum and materials, designed by the American Heart Association, were created to improve survival rates from sudden cardiac arrest through the coordination of CPR training for students in middle and high schools across the country. The American Heart Association is helping prepare more students, their teachers and their families to save lives with the CPR in Schools Curriculum Training Kit; based on the very latest science, educators can effectively train the next generation of lifesavers in under 30 minutes.
