Here is a Stranger Danger alert sent out to parents about an incident that occurred at Deerwood Elementary School earlier today.

"I want to make you aware of an incident that occurred at our campus today (Tuesday, April 3). At about 2:30 p.m. the 5th graders were outside playing ball during P.E. class. A ball went onto the greenbelt that runs along the playing field and two boys went to get the ball. A man came up and grabbed one boy by the wrist. The boy hit the man in the stomach and both boys ran back to their teacher.

The man is described as Caucasian, 6 feet tall, with blonde hair, wearing black shorts, a red shirt and tennis shoes. We immediately reported this to Humble ISD Police who will be looking for the man and patrolling the greenbelt at school dismissal and tomorrow's arrival.

This is a good opportunity to emphasize the following safety tips with your family members:

- Walk to and from school in groups.
- If anything unusual occurs, tell an adult immediately. Time can be critical.
- Never talk to strangers or accept rides from them, even if you are stranded. Call a trusted adult for transportation.
- Be proactive: tour the neighborhood to identify safe and dangerous circumstances and places. Arrange for immediate access to neighbors or other trusted adults who could be contacted in an emergency.
- Don’t panic. If you are afraid or have a problem, call a parent or a trusted adult.
- Never tell people at your door, phone callers, or online that you are home alone.
- Keep your house key hidden. Don’t give it to anyone and don’t keep it in a visible place that would tell people you are going home to an empty house.
- Never get into a car, enter a home, look for a lost pet or person, or accept food or items from an adult, unless your parents know what you are doing or have identified that person as a trusted emergency contact.
- Tell a trusted adult (parent, teacher or counselor) if anyone ever makes you feel uncomfortable.

Thank you for discussing these important points with your child, and as always, thank you for your support."

Macaire McDonough-Davies, Principal
Deerwood Elementary School

It's a shame there aren't some armed parents around that school. Oh wait, there was. But sadly she can no longer protect the children. 4951

I hate reading this. What are the odds this guy just happened to be there right at that time? He is probably hanging around just waiting for an opportunity. Ugh. 4951

Does it seem like after a school shooting there are more and more reports of strange things happening around the schools?

I'm not saying anyone is lying but it just seems weird to me. 4951
