Would this 2ft or so have staved off some of the flooding from Harvey? I guess it would have some. How much? Would be good to know. Good play in the playbook but how much dry yardage does this play get us? 4951

@beastmode : if you match it with two feet from. Conroe I bet it would have made a big difference. 4951

I am so glad they have decided to lower the level of Lake Houston. I do hope it rains but I only want enough to water my yard. 4951

Everyone is forgetting, it was not necessarily the lack of release of water by Lake Houston but the massive release of water from Lake Conroe that caused the majority of the flooding in Kingwood. They are really screwing up the crappie fishing in Lake Houston by releasing that much water during their spawn. 4951

Yes, Conroe was the major contributor. But really? Complaining about the freaking fish spawning? Do you have any clue how petty and selfish that sounds?
I helped muck out 8 different homes after Harvey and that was after two days of helping at an emergency shelter while the water was still waiting to recede.
Do NOT complain about an effort to prevent ANY amount of flooding while people are still working on repairs to their homes that were over a mile away from the river because you're concerned about freaking FISH.

I swear...y'all sound like Californians with this protect the fish crap.

Sorry, but I've had it with the "don't do small things it won't make enough of a difference" crowd. Do all the things we can. Did no one notice what 2" of rain did not so long ago? 4951

No mem.Just was saying draining two feet off Lake Houston is not going to do much,if it is not coordinated with massive release from Conroe and other resevoirs. Would not wish that on anyone. 4951
