iah : There are definitely two new HEBs coming to both Kingwood and Porter/NewCaney. That has been confirmed by their PR team. The P/NC location will most likely be at 1314 and 99 though. Some retailers are superstitious about letting out exact location info until they've officially broken ground. And grocery stores are the worst. However, the developers sometimes let the cat out of the bag, which is what happened here. ~C

luv2eatsushi : That's the only way I can describe it after dealing with them over the years. It's very similar to an attorney not handing over details of a case to his Public Information Officer before he gets the official guilty verdict...Even when the defendant is dead to rights. They blame it on all kinds of things, but it basically comes down to superstition or "jinxing" themselves. The only thing holding back does is cause misinformation to be spread about. ~C
Is this on that big open piece of land behind dairy queen?
logansheridan : Nooooo Kingwood is called the livable forest for a reason
You can't please everyone. Some people will gripe about there's not enough stores. Then when stores come, they gripe about the loss of trees. Here's how I see it: 1. We need another HEB around here. Kingwood's location is constantly packed and so is Atascocita's. This new location will help to ease the traffic burden off the existing KW location. It won't be traffic-free, but it will for sure help. There are a significant number of people who live in Porter/NC who drive to Kingwood's HEB to shop. This will lessen some of the traffic off of Northpark and benefit us all. 2. Yes, it is sad to lose the trees. I get it. I know, it's Kingwood. But the truth is, all of Kingwood was forest before we all bought our houses here or rented apartments, homes, etc. People probably said the same thing about us when we bought new houses where they had cleared trees. The thing is, we raise our families here and try to build a life. I'm sorry for the animals that no longer are here. I'm sorry for the trees no longer here. We plant trees and vegetation on our property so it looks more natural. No, it's not a forest, but this is where we raise our families and to me that is a greater purpose. 3. Flooding concerns. Yes, the new KW location isn't far from LSC-Kingwood which took on water. I understand the concerns. I am sure they will be having to build some huge retention ponds on the property. 4. There will be many other businesses and restaurants. I would think we might be seeing some new ones and not many repeats like Mod Pizza is doing by Kroger. The good thing about all of the fast food at Kroger's center is they can't repeat over by HEB's new KW spot. Maybe we might get some sit-down restaurants here. 5. There will be many jobs provided. HEB pays well. Not sure what the other businesses will be, but it is a good thing when jobs are added. When people have jobs, crime goes down. 6. Our area is growing. That's a good thing, people! We are not Detroit. We are not other areas of the country where places are constantly closing down and people are moving away. Every place has things people complain about. There isn't a perfect city, not even San Diego (too expensive!). 7. So many people complained about Aldi when that was announced. Ever drive by the place? The parking lot is full all of the time. That's awesome - that was a vacant building previously. I look forward to these businesses coming. It was inevitable that something was going to come into that spot. Let's be glad it is something the general public will use often. 4951
