Very true. One reason why I don't give blindly. No go fund me, no crap like that. Especially coming from someone I don't know.
Besides how do they know we haven't already donated to something on our own. What really ticked me was them calling certain people by name. Clearly there are many more of us. Why us? That in itself screamed red flag to me. Spidy senses.
I am because I give when and what I can, where I can. I'm not looking for pats on the back.
Way back in the 90's when I first moved to Arizona I was trying to recoup my saving. Living paycheck to paycheck after moving three quarters of the way across the country alone and working every Saturday even though only two a month was required, I was asked to donate to a well known charity. I explained I didn't have it, I was scrapping by and was lucky if I was gonna have my own Christmas dinner alone. Which I wound up being booted from my home for Christmas week due to roommates family so I never had a Christmas dinner, etc that year. I slept. Anyway, I got blackballed, talked about, etc. I quit soon after.
I now say, I've already donated privately. I also don't donate at registers, if a store wants a tax write off and accolades, they need to pony up.

Ok, folks. This thread has gotten too heated. Let's pull it back to the original purpose: to help raise funds for local charities. No one is obligated to give coins, there is not going to be any public calling anyone out. Give some coins if you feel like it, or don't - if you don't. The orgs on our charity list are pretty great, and it's a nice thing to donate the coins if you feel like doing something good today. I get all records of donations, and we send checks directly to the charities, so no worries about donated funds being misdirected. I'd love to see the total amount donated to local charities via KDC to go up - it's a cool community action where a bunch of small actions can really add up.
But again, if you don't feel like it, or you feeling like you've already maxed out your charitable giving for the year, that's fine too! I'll be removing any drama-related discussions on this thread going forward - let's try to bring it back around to the original purpose of helping local charities and supporting the work they do in our communities.

National Day of Giving - Donate your KDC coins! The Tuesday after Thanksgiving is National Day of Giving (aka Giving Day). As many of you know, KDC has a way to donate your coins to charity. To date, KDC users have donated $658.75 to charity via 658,750 coin donations, but I'm betting we can at least double that! I'm willing to bet that a good number of you are sitting on a hefty pile of coins. Why not hit the link below and donate the lions share to a good cause? Maybe we can double the donations if everyone chips in! Hit the link below to donate or feel free to tip me on this thread and I'll split the coinage equally between the 13 charities. www.kingwood.com/cre dits/charity.php

No worries if not of course.
SorryInAdvance : Just seeing this. Have been given a hefty decrease in rewards or I'd give more 😝. I might hafta seek a raise moving forward. J/k 😆Nice idea. How do the charities turn these donations into cash or do they buy gift cards and donate that way? I also like Family Time. Have donated to that community cause through the years. Good outreach program. Edit to add - saw joe's response to my question. 👍
Ruger5 : joe gives the charities a check for the amount. So they get it in cash.
