The lighting behind the hall table is a cool effect; just sent the pic to my younger son, as they have similar decor, in their entry hall.

I love how a real tree smells, but they just do not fit with our lifestyle, now. But, I do get a fresh garland for the mantel, and it smells great!

LittleTexas: we also used to only do real trees but it has been a while now since we changed that. But sure the smell was always a plus . That's a good idea, still you can get the best of both worlds . Love the smell of pine.
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas .

I will pay good money for a nice, real looking artificial tree. For the pine smell I use a candle or spray. Every time I had a real tree they dry up so quick and become a fire hazard. I like being able to keep the lights on my artificial tree all the time. Also I found decorating a "real" tree was more difficult.... ALL that being said when I had young kids there was an excitement in going out in search of a real tree...

How Much Will You Pay: Christmas Trees? Just saw an ad that Houston Garden Center's fresh Christmas trees are about $70. How much would do you/would you pay for your tree, whether a fresh tree, or other? We use ones we got on sale at At Home, or other places, pre-lit, years ago.

We usually drop $120 bucks.

We also have an artificial, pre-lit tree that I bought years ago, and I still love it. Your entry hall looks beautiful! I also decorate the stair banister and front hall when I decorate, and I'm looking forward to putting everything up soon.

I'm finally caving in this year and getting an artificial tree. I'm tired of the cost every year and hassle of tree stands, watering, etc.
where are the best places to buy artificial trees? I'm found one at Lowe's for $119, 5Ft but want to shop around first.

LittleTexas : Don't really celebrate Christmas anymore. Send Christmas cards, and exchange a few presents with family. That's it.

I was at Kroger yesterday and they had the live trees, and they were $90! I couldn't believe it. We finally gave in and bought an artificial tree about six years ago, and I just LOVE it. It takes about 15 minutes to put up. Today's live trees don't have the fragrance that I remember from my childhood--maybe in hybridizing them to hang on to their needles they affected the fragrance?
