Move Over, It's The Law

Constable Mark Herman's office would like to remind motorists to move over and help us keep everyone safe as many travelers are returning home.

Your Constable's office urges drivers to slow down and move over for emergency vehicles.

Help protect those who protect you!

The law applies to police vehicles, fire trucks, ambulances, tow trucks and Texas department of transportation vehicles.

This happened the other night on 59N in Humble. I was in the far right lane after having just merged in from the feeder and couldn't change lanes so I slowed down. What I couldn't see in the dark was that the cop's SUV was parked crooked and was stuck way into my lane with no tail lights on. I had to come to a very fast dead stop in order not to hit the cop car! That was ridiculously dangerous. Police need to make sure they clear the roadway when stopping someone, especially at night.
