Just called them. Said mainly people go to get ID cards so the lines are long. Better to go to Ellignton for that on another day. The rest of the event though is like a military fair, lots of freebies, stuff for kids...I may still go but get the ID cards in the meantime. 4951
@BeastmodeMake an appointment. I'll get the info for you, give me a few. I went a few weeks ago, showed up at 7:30 and the DEERS systems was down, the gal working made an appointment the next day and we were in and out in 45 minutes. Also, you can go into the big building behind the welcome center to the Navy person and get an ID, we've done that. But you need an active ID to get there. There's an online appointment system. 4951
Okay, do make an appointment, my hubby showed up at 8:30ish and was told they were full for the day, he just needed to sign paperwork to update Ds card so they took him. They also told me they are slower on Mondays, the recording says they are closed, but that is the Navy center not the welcome center, at least that's what they told me. So, Google Rapids Appointment SchedulerEnter Zip Code 77034Schedule your appointment and print the confirmationI think this appointment is for the Navy center, they did ours and we are USAF. On the day of your appointment proceed to the Guard Gate. Take your confirmation with you. If your ID is expired the guards will keep your ID. 4951
