you also need an MMR ( measles, mumps, rubella) vaccine, if you have not had one. Most of us have had one, and you do not need a 'booster'; one will do it.

My mom got shingles this year...no fun at all.

I had the shingles vax in Jan and a booster in May. No side effects at all.

I had both shingles vaxes.
Same--no side effects.
I had shingles when I was 28.
Got over it--and maybe I had enough protection but it was no big deal to get the vax.Measles is an absolute nightmare to get if you are an adult.
Why do people have to think not getting vaccinated is a good idea??

My pharmacist scared me into getting my shots last year. I was very Grateful. One less thing to worry about. How is your Mom doing now?🙏

sebastian2 : That's a good question. Every year, we get our flu and covid shots. We've also been vax'd for shingles and pneumonia.

She's doing Ok now, but was pretty unpleasant experience. She's the type that doesn't like to take any shots or medicine unless she absolutely has to.

Oh no. Has she fully recovered? I still need to get the vaccine. It was on my list this summer to get, but I could not afford to be sick for several days afterwards (I still need to watch the puppy). Hopefully I can eek by until next summer and get the vaccine then.

That is good. I have heard it is miserable but the sooner you can start the antiviral meds, the less severe case and the quicker you can recover.

Sounds like she really needed to get the vaccine and that the neglect made her pay the price of getting full-blown shingles. Sorry that she had to go through it.
I don't understand that thinking, not taking preventative measures, I really don't.
