I grew up on a Girl Scout Camp. NO ONE was allowed in the deep end until they could swim across the pool width and back without stopping! You had to be a strong swimmer too. No puppy dog paddlers. I totally disagree with our pool guards who allow small children on the sliding boards in the deep end.
