Malls are a thing of the past With the latest incident at Deerbrook mall, I've read so many comments comparing it to Greenspoint mall and it got me thinking about something. In a lot of cities, malls are being repurposed. Either the existing building demolished and something new rebuilt or the existing building remodeled into something new and functional, like housing. In today’s world, people mostly purchase online line and malls are sort of becoming obsolete. Deerbrook was my hangout in the 90s and even then it was outdated. If that mall were to be repurposed, what would you want it to be? I'd vote for a full tear down and remodel of that whole plot of land. There is way too much concrete with the unused parking spaces. I'd imagine with the population growth, a beautiful multi functional commercial space. Similar to Generation Park or the very walkable part of the Woodlands with nice restaurants mixed in with corporate buildings. Humble is making a lot of changes in the right direction with updating older buildings, welcoming in new restaurants (i.e; In-n-out in 2027, updating exterior painting of a lot of buildings, and so on) Obviously I'm not a billionaire and can't make this happen, but I am curious what you'd like to see that space turn into, if you had the choice.

CVEK : A Woodlands Market Street type setup would be nice…the problem is, there is not as much money in Humble as there is in The Woodlands..
Joe: I was wondering about that too. But it does seem with Valley Ranch growing, there is more money on the north east side than once was. A lot of people commute from those areas to Houston for work and humble is on the way. By the way, I really like your idea!
Nesracc: I love the idea of a park. Maybe turn it into a version of Memorial park with running trails. That would look so so nice.
CVEK : Joe : Something like the Opryland Resort would be cool. Is that anything like you're talking about? I'm thinking that something like this could help raise values in the area.
BrendaT: that's what I think about too, how to bring value to the area. When things are run down and drab, where's the value to the community?
EasyPeasy: I can understand why you feel that way and that's such a bummer that it has become a place that brings those feelings.
LittleTexas: I'm curious what the Deerbrook mall stats are, if they've increased or decreased. That would be interesting to see. « Back to Chat
