I was getting an engine light intermittently in my 2007 Toyota Carolla.150,000 miles. Scan code said to clean engine throttle body air intake. Took it to Pep Boys on NP and they did a BG Throttle Clean for $114. It has more power and runs like new !

I've also noticed that some newer cars software has tightened the parameters on certain systems.
One being the catalytic converter/O2 sensors etc.
It's common to get a check engine light for the catalytic converter being "clogged ".
Coincidentally now they have a catalytic converter "cleaner " fuel additive (which usually does clear the fault code). "Cataclean" is expensive but I've found that "Royal Purples Max Clean" works extremely well for 1/3-1/4 the price. $12.97 at Walmart.
Just an FYI for those that run across this problem.

Donnawisdom : Oh I plan too! I am thinking of getting it painted in the Fall which will help it look a bit newer. I don't like getting a new vehicle anyway. I am soooo used to what I have and don't like change.

EddyFree : Except that many newer cars have electronic throttles that if you open by hand will mess them up. And if you use the wrong cleaner you can ruin the sensors inside the MAF.

CaffeineFree : All I know about Pep Boys on NP is that, sorry to say, when I got a flat hitting a pothole on NP, they told me they couldn't get a new tire for me before a week and a half. I went to Kenneth's instead, and they got the tire that same day. Plus gave me "concierge" transportation home and back!
