I'm probably not the best resource for that kind of recommendation list. So I'll invite others to join in and share their recs.When I've gone out with wife or friends, I've most enjoyed Pappas Bros Steakhouse downtown and Vic and Anthony's downtown. The atmosphere helps elevate the experience at both - and the opportunity to finish the night at a nearby watering hole in walking distance . When making a reservation at either over the phone, they'll ask if it's a special occasion. Always say yes. If you're with your wife, say it's your anniversary. If you're with some buddies, tell them one of your buddies just got out of prison and name him. These places usually provide a complimentary dessert for special occasions, which makes it feel like you obtained extra value and fun from the experience.My wife doesn't like to spend a lot on high end steak, but she's picky about how well the steak is prepared. She prefers the abomination of medium well. It ruins her night if it comes medium or well done because she does not want to be a "high maintenance" diner by sending it back. So the most dependable value steakhouse that meets her standards is Saltgrass - but the New Caney location. I think that location was able to provide a better steak than the Humble location was due to not being as crowded. My speculation is that it may have allowed the waiter less stress to hear it accurately, record it accurately, gave the cooks time to grill it precisely, and because of the reduced stress - enabled less turnover among all employees, which gave them all time to get better at their jobs. It's the only explanation I can think of for why it was a noticeably different product than the Humble location. Saltgrass also seems to have better quality sides than the comparably priced chains.

The drive to Houston is too hellacious.

Taste of Texas gets my vote for steak when not looking at prices.Their asiago cheese rolls are worth the drive alone. You can buy extras of many goodies in their store.The Megan's mac and cheese and au gratin potatoes are so difficult to choose between, I generally buy an extra side or have someone split our two sides.*Megan was a culinary student who worked for the restaurant. She was tasked with creating the ultimate Mac and cheese. I think she did a great job!

Is any meal with $100? It boggles my mind. Just because I can pay that much doesn't mean I will.

Now I want to try a Bourbon Steak. Lol.The most expensive steak house I've been to was Vic and Anthony's downtown, to celebrate a big anniversary. It was pricey, but I thought it was worth it. The food, and the service were fantastic, but I would probably only reserve that for a very special occasion. I also enjoy Saltgrass, but haven't been there in a while.

Txbutterfly : I get that good meat is expensive and that it cost more. And these are special occasion places imo. BUT there's a price point that is just over the top, almost feels like a gouge.
