Last year our son mailed a father's day card to his dad- never arrived. Was so sad that was the last fathers's day my husband was alive as he passed away at end of the summer. I'm sure someone stole it.

Pretty much every personal letter/thank you note we get through the USPS has arrived open over the years.

NoBias :
I had a similar issue. My dad stubbornly kept sending birthday money by mail to my kids. Sometimes it was gift cards, sometimes cash.

I contacted the US Postal Inspector to report the information. They kept in touch with me, advising later that they arrested a person responsible for my route and that the prosecution led to a federal felony conviction.

I found out through some friends that Postal Inspectors will send bait letters on suspected routes. Once they get a hit, they give the target further scrutiny to build a bigger case. It's never about 1 gift card.

My husband walked up and down the trails and found the empty box and some of the candy wrapper that I ordered. So we know it happened sometime after the package tracking says it was delivered 12/26 at noon. And we let the officer know to add that info to the report and I told the seller what happened and now I think I need to notify USPS too.. but it wasn't super expensive or anything. I'm just worried about the info they could have gotten from my and my neighbors mail. I am going to check my credit score and keep an eye on my bank accounts too.

jv339 : I located it myself and contacted HPD - who drop-kicked as "federal jurisdiction".

Made contact with USPS facility supervisor flunky. (Apparently, there were already suspicions.)

The local carrier was confronted by the flunky after shift change.

Item was collected and returned. I filed a complaint with the USPS Police.

Never heard anything more apart from getting my butt chewed for "knowingly and intentionally entering a secure federal facility without authorization" and had to sign a written "criminal trespass warning".

Mail thief! Police came to our house to let us know some of our mail had been found (with others) in a public trash can in Sherwood Trails and up and down the trails. It would have been after Dec 26th, As that is when one of our smaller packages (containing candy dice) was delivered to our mail box. The empty box was found. There is a police report so if you have any info it can be added to that report.

ShadowDancerM81 : our entire mailbox at the end of our street was removed Christmas before last….. ****** thieves

ShadowDancerM81 :
That's so annoying & alarming!
That could have meds that you needed, & they probably would have gone through them just like the candy.
