I am still confused. What is behind the HEB? Are you talking about the Memorial Hermann Convenient Care Center?

I am just commenting on ER bills. Just bare with me. An Average ER bill is $20,000. I had a bad fall, recently.,My bill came to $17,000 at the local MH convenient care center. The amount I owe is only $150 due to my insurance. I only owe copays. Kankan's sweet grandbaby probably had a big deductible. Your insurance dictates what you owe! It is all different due to your insurance!
I am just sorry KanKan they did not do more for this sweet child, as far as diagnosis! I am sure you are very concerned!

#msg5989045KanKan : $700 for that is obscene!
#msg5988987Lesson learned. 😔. I thought the thing behind HEB in KW was an urgent care. A few weeks ago we took the grand there because we were in the area and he swallowed a toy he shouldn't have and from reading online they can be toxic, and he said he was having issues swallowing. He did eat breakfast and didn't tell us about the toy and swallowing until hours later. The place was not busy, only took his bp, and the dr came in and said he'll just have to pass it. $700 after insurance. This is ridiculous! I've been there once with Mom and once when the other KW UC sent me there because of the equipment they have. Never knew it was an ER and now I know why they weren't busy. I have definitely learned my lesson with both the grand and the ER. Geez!

Only $700? I'd consider that pretty lucky.
My wife one Christmas was choking, almost complete blockage, but just barely enough to breathe, heimlich wasn't working (one of the most terrifying things ever). Rushed to the ER, they put her on a table, called a surgeon…and minutes later, she cleared the blockage. No medical intervention, no IV, nothing…but yes, we got the bill at $4k!
I hate that this happened to you, and I hate that it can be so confusing figuring out what category a medical center falls into! Since they are indeed an ER rather than UC, the claim may have been subject to a deductible if that's how your insurance processes an ER visit (hence the $700 bill). However, they are great for when you do need an ER. I had to bring a family member there a few years ago for severe abdominal pain. There was no wait, and they were able to do imaging right there. It turned out he had appendicitis and needed emergency surgery, which required transfer to the MH NE in Humble. They were able to start IV antibiotics and keep him comfortable until they were notified that a bed was available at the large hospital, then the waiting ambulance transferred him there. No waiting in an ER waiting room for hours! I am so glad we have this option here in our community.

Yes that's a lot but we have been there several times but we only had to pay our co pay. They sent us to St Luke's in the Woodlands since my husband's cardiologist is there. I was so thankful!
KanKan, Texasdaughter and gabbygirl reacted Most likely the deductible. Just check it against your EOB when it comes in.

I think it would be worth it to me to have someone right there if a trach was necessary. Can you imagine losing your beloved wife. Sometimes medical help is definitely priceless.

I am sorry you had that expensive experience. But so glad you guys is in good health.
One thing the health insurance rep at my husband's job told them years ago to help distinguish an urgent care from an ER was that if it is open 24/7, it is an emergency room.
That place sent my husband home after a fall in the shower (passed out after food poisoning)... They did a x-ray and said he was good to go nothing found... A week later after seeing another doctor he was called at work and told to go the the ER ASAP that his neck was broken. It was indeed a broken neck.
