Conroe is releasing water during the night tonight at a rate of 4267 cfs. I don't know if that would make KW flood but I am sure someone here knows.

Not sure about flooding but according to the internet Conroe released 79,000 cfs during Harvey so I don't think tonight's release will do much, but it's been a bit since I was familiar with what has been built along the release path

I don't understand why they always do this during the night. I hope it does not affect anyone negatively

I guess if they release at night maybe there is no one to stop them. Releasing water from Conroe was the reason Kingwood flooded after Harvey. Hopefully they will not release as much at they did during Harvey. I did not flood ever so I don't remember the exact amount that was released.

Labslady : That sounds good. 79,000 is a lot more! Hopefully, 4267 cfs will be a drop in the bucket.

TEXASGIRLMAMMA : Yes - this small (compared to Harvey and 1994 floods) will not have a significant impact on the Lake Houston area.
SJRA released 79K CFS from Lake Conroe during Harvey. That was the largest release in their history. The second largest was last May, when they released 70K CFS. Right now, they're releasing a little less than 6K CFS and the level of the lake is steady. It hasn't budged since last night. So unless we get another serious storm, you should be OK. Compared to Harvey, we got about one tenth of the amount of rain yesterday. And the release rate is also about one tenth. Hope that helps.
