who has had a bad experience at kingwood medical center?

Oh the stories I could tell... None of them good.  Run, don't look back, just run .

I will not go into further detail, but my husband died when he did due to being in that hospital. He would have died from his disease anyway, but would have lived a longer life if he had not been at Kingwood Hospital. I would not ever recommend them to anyone. 

Stay far away from the er!!! Very far!!! The hospital itself is ok. My friends son was there in the er with flu issues. He stopped breathing. The er gavaged him wrong went to his belly instead of lung. Didn't do the proper X-ray after it. Called tx children's to Come pickup. When they got there which was over 30 minutes by ambulance they found he had been deprived of oxygen for over 45 minutes. Somehow he was still alive. Transferred to tch where he died 9 days later. Death was because of the affixiation by strangulation So no er!!

I went to the ER there last Fall.   Was sent in by my sons pediatrician.  Walked in, had a massive wait.  We filled out the paperwork, we were already in the system, because I have 2 boys.  LOL  We sat down for what I knew was going to be hours.  Most of the people by us had already been there over 4 hours.We got called back by the Triage Nurse.   Assessment was done, we sat back down.  Were called back again, and saw the Dr who ordered test for my son.  We were done in less than 2 hours from the time we walked in, until we left.They knew what they were doing.  I followed up with a specialist at TCH and he said everything was done correctly.So I can't complain.

We went to the Neighbors place once, and got a whopper bill from them.  Took me a month to get that crap fixed.  Neighbors is the place beside Smart Financial right?  I do like the place on NP beside Shippley's. But this was one of those things that you call the DR and they tell you to go the ER right that minute.  So we did.  And by letting the ER staff know we were referred there by our DR, and the circumstances we were sent back in under 5 minutes.   It is like magic when you tell them your son may have a twisted testicle.  I mean you get back fast, and they don't play around with ordering tests.  You get an ultrasound done within 10 min of walking in the door.  And I don't care what ER you go to, that is dang fast attention.  They had a urologist in the ER in under 10 min as well.  But you are so right, the Triage Nurse told us that the people who had been waiting for 4 hours and more, had no business even being in an ER and should have gone to see their primary care Dr.  Why anyone would go sit in an ER for a cold instead of calling their dr or going to a place like the one on NP is beyond me.  When we go there, it is a small copay, and we have never gotten additional bills, even for XRay's.

I spent time in the real ER (by the ramp) and can attest to the fast tempo to address emergencies when those needing were rolled in. They were on it. If you have insurance a suggestion....for a serious injury go to Neighbors. If the on duty Dr. necessitates care you can transport to KW bypassing the ER wait to be directly admitted. Only bad...you will be transported by ambulance and will have to pay your appropriate deductible. You cannot, under care drive yourself from one to the other. The bad...Neighbors on KW drive bills just like an ER because they can intubate, CT on site etc. My copay was cheap.....only $30 to go and transfer. Just saying as to quell bill shock from my advice. Stay healthy KW peeps!
