eighteen : What if they got off their shift and said "let's go help that lady get her trampoline put up for her kids". These guys risk their lives for $40k a year. Every day they put on that uniform could be their last. Would you do that? I think they've earn the benefit of the doubt.

Airborne319 : Shifts are 6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm, and 10pm-6am.
Anyone have contact info for them? I'd like to see if they'll clean my gutters

eighteen : In uniform definitely does not equal on the clock for all cops. But THREEE HPD officers in Kingwood are most likely not off the clock by my logic bc HPD doesn't get take homes unless they're someone super high up. So once an HPD officer is off duty they have to drive back to drop their police unit off and get in their personal vehicle to drive home from there. If these THREE officers were off the clock, they would have had to driven their units to base, retrieved their personal vehicle, and driven back to this persons house together. Not saying it's impossible but highly unlikely. This was dumb for HPD to post.
We pay plenty of taxes to COH. Its nice for their police officers to give back. I would be nice if the City Works people would get in the game and time the lights on KW Drive and 494. They don't even have to do anything special, just their jobs.
Airborne319 : I drove inbound on KWD today when I came back from a doctor appointment. The outbound traffic was backed up past the old Stein Mart around noon. I avoid KWD outbound as much as possible. I hope NP construction doesn't force us to use KWD- that mess that would be
hanging out at the 1960 entrance and 59 North writing tickets all morning to the people using the toll lane.

Heathur : I've seen HPD there many times but yes, I agree. I think all traffic control should be handled by the state police, period.
toneyc : 59 & KW or North Park, & even then it's usually Rowdy's Boys pulling ppl over (Montgomery County Pct 4) but Houston PD's jurisdiction starts around 59 & Hamblen.

Heathur : Right near 59 and the 1960 entrance. Past the San Jacinto bridge going south bound. They sit there and park on the highway side of the barrier (HPD motorcycle cops mostly) and stand on the other side of the barrier and flag down motorists heading toward downtown on the HOV lane all damn morning, writing tickets. Maybe it was a slow crime day? So they probably just stopped for a few minutes to help out instead of driving around (or parking somewhere) and looking for speeders. And are we really complaining that they weren't out there handing out tickets to speeders instead? Usually they're being belittled as that's all they do. I'm sure if they'd gotten a call for a crime in progress, they would have abandoned the trampoline.
