StormChaser : She could literally ride the greenbelt the whole way, with very few street crossings. the greenbelet that goes from sherwood trails all the way through bear branch and literally pops you out at the high school. I run it all the time.

ZMAN : I know that but I also know her & what will happen; she pays zero attention.

She won't mean to but that's exactly what will happen.

You know your child better than anyone else. Do what you know is best - you don't want to live with the consequences.

In my case I'm a grandmother who would like to be out in nature. I used to ride my bike everywhere but now I need three wheels due to balance issues and a little bit of motorized assistance here and there. Just wary of being screamed at on the trails. Of course I'd be careful. I'm trying to preserve my life (and others) not lose it.

Ruger5 : There are signs on the greenbelts stating "No motorized vehicles allowed". Yep....you sure do see them on the greenbelts.

This topic was discussed at the KSA Public Safety meeting last night.
There is no easy way to regulate e-bikes or e-scooters on the trails. The trails are private property and without getting legal advice about how to regulate them and the manpower it would take to do so would be cost prohibitive to the communities.
It's sad how few people actually get involved with their HOAs or the greater Kingwood community going to KSA meetings for Parks and Public Safety or HPD PIP meetings.

So handicapped people can't go around on their mobility scooters? I honestly didn't know that. If that's the case we are seriously behind in this area.
E trikes are simply like mobility scooters but you get the chance to pedal where you can.

Daidi : They absolutely can. Even ebikes are allowed as long as they are under a certain wattage. A mobility scooter will be nowhere near that amount.

Daidi : I am with you. I would love one. If a regular bike can be on the road then why not an E bike? If I get one, I'm going ride it where I want and follow the rules of the road use hand signals have a light be responsible. As a driver, I know how annoying it could be to be behind someone on any kind of bike or motorcycle and then being unsafe and selfish.

Cinderz : There in lies the main problem with these kids on e-bikes and scooters. They are not responsible at all. They ride in the middle of the lane, don't stop at stop signs and they sure as hell don't use any hand signals. The one I was behind the other day was going every bit of 30 mph in the middle of the lane and even passed another vehicle by going into the left lane. He first came out of the parking lot at Bear Branch Middle school. Didn't even notice me coming. He later ducked off onto the trails. The only thing he did correctly was wear a helmet.

There is a disabled guy in a motorized wheelchair in the back of Kingwood. He goes right down the middle of the street. Ive got video of him just rolling right in front of my car. He either doesnt know better or honestly believes he has the right of way.

I've had one riding along in front of me decide to turn left. At least teach your child hand signals. I had to brake even though I was a cautious distance behind him, he cut across so fast. I worry our town will have to deal with a tragedy due to e bikes one day and this saddens me.

OK. Then an e trike should be fine. They only go 16 mph. And if one is riding within a development it's slower than anyone on an ordinary bike. No need to go out on the main roads.
