Just a forest people live in… I saw this posted in a Houston chat group elsewhere…funny to see a perspective of Kingwood from someone else: " It's crazy to me that North Houston is just a forest This is a dumb post but I've grown up in the city my whole life and there's barely any greenery (I just mean in the direct area where I live, obviously there's parks and stuff) and I know Houston isn't really a place for outdoorsy types, but I've always been interested in exploring the nature around here I recently visited a friend in Kingwood for the first time and driving through there was just so crazy bc it's literally just a forest that people live in lmao. Trees everywhere. Just tall *** trees that blot out the sun as far as the eye can see it's so amazing. Ik it sounds dumb but it's wild to me that this place that's just the complete opposite of where I live is so close. Seems like a great quiet place to live and raise a family idk "

When we were looking where to settle we were looking in Sugarland. All new houses had no trees. We saw a house in the paper (dating myself) in KW so we came out here to look and was sold has soon has we crossed the railroad tracks. There just were no bars only Mollys and Steak n Ale.😂
We lived near the Galleria and it was so refreshing to see trees. Been living in the concrete jungle for too long.

It was built to be that type of environment,so I can see why it looks that way, to others!. The Woodlands followed suit; so many trees in the area, and developers made sure to Keep the trees.
I moved to Houston from Cape Cod after growing up in Maine most of my life. I was not loving inner city at all!! My BF at the time ( now husband for 10 years) kids lived in KW and I was sold. My kids were 5 and 8 and it was the best move I ever made!!!! Did I love the forest in my house.... not so much- but I still love it here
That's why I moved here! I feel in love with the trees. Actually, I was just talking to dh about making a donation to Kingwood Trees.
Thanks for the share! I think it's easy to kind of go blind to the trees after a while and not appreciate them the way newcomers do. I've lived here most of my life, and often all I see are all the trees we don't have anymore -- it's so much less "forest" than it used to be -- and yet, every time someone new comes to visit, the first thing they say (still) is "there are so many trees!" Thanks for the perspective check!
Pretty good description IMO. I still remember hubs driving us down Kingwood Dr for the first time( the shopping center that held the Old Randall's wasn't even there yet.). Talk about my jaw on the floor!!! 😱 lol if I went back there right now - pretty sure I'd have the same reaction

I had friends that lived on the south side of Houston. Their neighborhood had very few trees, no trails or "greenbelts", and the nearest park was a couple of blocks away. Needless to say, they did enjoy visiting us here in KW with the kids pretty often.
