Ive been in kingwood off 59 since 2006. nothing was built before kingwood drive. Randalls was only grocery store and maybe one or two gas stations. Growth is a part of life. I remember being excited for los cucos and texas roadhouse being built. Just reflecting. My how times have changed.

Surfer58 : Yeah I revisited my childhood home in south Carolina a few years ago. All the woods I use to play in were all neighborhoods now. Was tough to swallow.
Tubec : I remember, as a kid there was a part of our back yard in New England that was barren…we had it tilled, and I helped manually remove a bunch of large rocks in wheelbarrows, then we had fertilizer (manure) trucked in that I helped spread, in order to hopefully revitalize growth…we moved away 2 years later…then I went back there 30 years later and had this weird out-of-body feeling as I saw that barren land was now a forest of huge, full grown trees! I was totally confused for a moment, until reflecting that…yeah, actually, that's something that can happen after 30 years.
Tubec : You were just a young whipper-snapper but Mountasia was there until 2007. I took my kids there many times. There is Luby's( not my favorite), but it is still there. I have to admit that there were plenty of businesses in that strip, but I have forgotten them.

billcherie2 : surprise surprise! I just wish people were happy, staying put in the cities they live in instead of all wishing to flock our way, I wonder what the overcrowding is going to do to our quality of life if it keeps up at this current pace, don't think that isn't something to ponder.

Tubec : I have been her since '97 and there are too much change to mention. I can only imagine for the people who have lived here all there lives.
Tubec : I was raised about 35 minutes from here, and coming to Humble, back then, was coming to a larger area, with more to do, places to eat, etc. I came to Kingwood for it's grand opening,when I was a child. My dad exercised his hunting dogs where IAH is now; it was just fields, then. It is amazing how Much as changed; I remember when 1960 was mostly a dirt road
Mike1273 : We got here in 1977. DH worked at airport and friends had bought a house in Forest Cove. The Randalls center was being cleared for a parking lot and store. The road was 2 lanes, and the RR tracks were a mess then. There were no street lights. I think Kingwood drive was only open as far as Trailwood...
We also looked at the Woodlands. Panther Creek 3 Br were selling for 36k. There was a small grocery store on Sawdust. People had to drive to 1960/45.
We moved to Aldine/I45 for 5 years, because we needed a grocery store, drug store, restaurants.
