Hurricane Erin - Update: Cat 5

The look of this storm gives me flashbacks to Hurricane Katrina. In our little town at the end of this month we are having a remembrance of Katrina who hit us 20 years ago in 2005. The devastation she brought to our area was unprecedented and people around here still share memories and flashbacks of that time. I'm so thankful to GOD that this storm doesn't appear to be heading anywhere near the U.S. ✝️🙏🏻❤️

Has it shown any northerly turn yet?

After going through Harvey I get uneasy whenever I see that radar view of a spiral with the eye, regardless of where it is heading.

cardinalsong : I'm sure. I lived here during Harvey too but did not flood. (We were in Elm Grove. We moved out 6 months before EG flooded 2x in 2019)But had I flooded in Harvey, I would probably feel the same way, and I LOVE weather, so I can't imagine. 😓When Beryl hit, a tree went thru my dads house in Hunters Ridge and that scared the hell out of me and I wasn't even in the house. I won't lie when I say.....I'm nervous about getting a hurricane again. 😭 And I hate admitting that because - that's not me - but that situation could have been really, REALLY bad. My dad wasn't 10 feet away when that tree hit.

Hurricane Erin Update

Hurricane Erin has experienced a slight weakening, with current sustained winds recorded at 125 mph. The National Hurricane Center has adjusted the storm's projected track slightly westward overnight. Erin is still expected to turn northwesterly by this evening. It is important to note that weaker storms typically exhibit a more westerly movement before shifting to a northerly trajectory, so we will continue to monitor Erin closely in the coming hours.While Erin is not anticipated to directly impact Florida, interests in the Carolinas, the Eastern Bahamas, and Bermuda should remain alert as the situation develops. Additionally, a new tropical wave has emerged off the coast of Africa, which is anticipated to be designated as Invest 99L. I will provide further updates on this potential system in the coming days as we continue to focus on Hurricane Erin. Stay tuned for further information.

Yes, even though I feel anxious when I see hurricanes forming there is a part of me that can marvel at the power of Mother Nature. Tornados in particular are just amazing and strange to me. I'm so glad your Dad was OK!

My son is EXACTLY like you. He literally came to Kingwood (fromFort Worth) to experience Harvey. Some of his best memories are of Hurricane Ike.
He moped because he could not get off work for Beryl.
(he prefers tornadoes too but they are not as prevalent )
