Ruger5 : Yeah, worth a try. So the guy in the hoody is the one who they say checked out, or other guy?

Rolnwithmyhomie : The grainy guy in the hoody is definitely the guy. He (and the same car that showed up on ring at the time of theft) was spotted in conroe stealing catalytic converter's exactly one week after my burglary……the police sent me the picture captioned - when 50k just isn't enough. The weird thing is it kinda reminds me of the guy at the bank next to me in line too. The police have that pic on file. They did not release it to me though. Wouldnt it be special if this guy matched the picture of the guy at the bank? All three resemble in my minds eye. Not ever expecting the money back - that's gone - but the amount he took is a felony. I'd love to see him do prison time.

WTF : Yes…..regretfully. it was my 40th anniversary gift from dh. He did not know I was planning to make the withdrawal, neither did I actually. I was at such a distrustful place with government - and with interest being at all time low I figured this was the time do it - I mean, why not? I feared a crash - still do. I had NO CLUE what a bank jugging was. I sure do now!

TownHubAdmin : Hats off to the female officer! Now a days, they get so little respect and probably worry about every decision they make when making an arrest. Good job Officer!!

Ruger5 : OMGosh.....thats horrible! I'm so sorry that happened to you! Makes me sick that someone thinks they are entitled to your hard-earned money! I know banks are required to do a report for anything over $10k. Did they try and talk you out of withdrawing that amount in cash? A bank employee didn't walk you to your car? So many questions. I hope the thief gets caught!

Ruger5 : I didn't realize the amount when that happened to you. That totally sucks, and I wish you could have a do-over for that day. Emoticon

As usual, I try to offer some perspective: Know, that if things really fall apart in our society, cash will not have a value. Things will have value; skills will have value. Cash will be worthless.

Now if you are just talking about a stock market crash, or a few banks failing, that is different, although the FDIC protects us cash-wise.

GirlonaBoat : Not a word. Now though they make all large withdrawals done in a private room. It could have even been an i side job though. The teller took FOREVER to retrieve that stash. I mean, why so long? Was she texting a friend? Inside bank juggings do happen. Yet she was not questioned so how do they find out if the teller was never even questioned? Ask me anything about bank jugging.

Ruger5 : It probably took her long because even large banks only keep $150-$200K in cash at any given time. Most people don't make large withdrawals anymore because they don't pay for that much with cash, and large amounts of cash are a target for theft.

buffaloglenn : Thank you. We were actually very blessed. # 1 I wasn't hurt, and # 2 Dh's mom it just so happens was planning to gift each of her 4 kids in excess of what was stolen, which she did do, so that most certainly softened the blow, but still, it was an extremely hard pill to swallow for two who has lived as frugally as we have lived our whole lives. Needless to say I will never do that again…….and when I do leave the bank I make damn sure no one is following!

buffaloglenn : But the money was pre-counted in stacks of denominations right there in vault. It shouldn't have taken 12 minutes, in my opinion. I wondered if she were back there hand counting 50k.

Ruger5 : I worked at a bank, although it was 33 years ago now. We didn't have too many large withdrawals, and kept around $50K in the vault (tellers didn't know the exact amount). Managers were brought in to "help" when we had to do any large withdrawals ($5,000 +), and we did count it all. I have no idea what bank procedures are today though, for that kind of cash.
