Humble 18-Year-Old Faces Felony Animal Cruelty ChargeNyla, the mixed-breed puppy in the video, believed to be about three months old, is recovering after deputies rescued her from a Humble home, according to the Harris County Precinct 1 Constable's Office. Precinct 1 said Nyla had multiple broken bones in different stages of healing, an injury pattern investigators said raised concerns about possible ongoing abuse. A different, adult dog was also removed from the same home and reportedly had a broken rib and at least one object resembling a pellet lodged in its skin. Both animals were placed in the care of the Houston SPCA.McKinley Bass, 18, was later charged with third-degree felony cruelty to a non-livestock animal, according to court records cited in the initial report. Those records state that Bass was released on a $12,000 bond. Under Texas law, a third-degree felony conviction can carry two to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.The charge and alleged conduct are accusations, not findings of guilt. Bass is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
