Joe : I always like looking at the skyline when going downtown, daylight or dark. I really liked watching the sunrise over it when I worked down there. It is beautiful.
Joe : That just seems so wild to me with all of the office buildings downtown having so many vacancies and people working from home.

Joe : I agree. I traveled all over the country when I was working and saw all of the major city downtown areas. When you take our downtown, midtown/med center, and uptown into consideration, we have a very impressive skyline.
I personally believe that no new building until all empty strip malls, etc are either full or remodeled. It's so gross seeing dead, dying shopping centers. See more and more as people are making different choices. I for one have basically stopped shopping for junk. Seems it's all junk. As for more offices, why? So many sit empty. They should convert to housing. Btw, I tried renting a space in Kingwood. Lol, I couldn't fill the space, and they don't allow split. It was base at $5000 a month and a million dollars insuranceon the structure, plus plus plus insurance (loss, liability),utilities, point of sale costs and all the jazz that goes with business. Oh and a 5 year lease with no out.
beadweaver : Numbers are out of control and you're correct seeing empty buildings it is actually depressing...I miss the days when you go Christmas shopping and everything is decorated ,you can actually talk to people and feel the Holidays Spirit.Yes one can still do that but it seems like every year some businesses become extinct, buildings are empty, people shop online ...all this is killing the human interaction and with AI coming I'm afraid that too will become extinct one day soon....or maybe it's just me.
HappyDay2016 : True, but they still have to run the AC even if people aren't there for the humidity. I can see wanting a more efficient building. A building the is truly empty and in disrepair should be taken down, unless it's historical.
I haven't lived in Fort Worth for years, but there was an old mall there. It had maybe two anchor stories left and the rest was empty. Part was then used for the health department and it seemed like other city offices were there as well. The underground part looked more like a flea market and had a big play area for the kids.
