HOA question Do I need to contact HOA before cutting down a tree in my front yard? It's basically dead but really large.
rd213 : Yes. Cutting any tree requires HOA approval. Call Ethyl McCormick's office (281-359-1102) and they will guide you thru the process. I recommend you tell them it is pretty much dead and a safety hazard.

rd213 : I cut down 3 large ones in my front yard and it never even occured to me to contact them. Glad that I did cut them down. They appeared to be unhealthy on the exterior but when cut down...way worse. The inside was so hollow the stump looked like a donut!
Contact your HOA. If it is in danger of the area, then they should help.
Gigix4 : Sorry to disagree with you but...no one is going to dictate to me whether I can cut down a dead tree or not. IF I contact them and they tell me "no" I cannot cut it down....are they going to assist me if it falls in a storm?
Kittle : Sorry...no. Ethel is terrible. I have lived here 23 years. Cut down tree's, painted the exterior of my home and replaced my windows. No one is going to have that power over me. I painted it nearly the same color as the original. I have seen homes in BB where they were painted a very strong blue color and in fact... they are side by side. They look dreadful. Has been that way for years and I mean years. I have seen other homes painted dreadful colors and nothing is done. Ethel ...needs to retire.cbear: iMO KAM and the HOAs needs to go

Theoldman : I D K who KAM is but...all they have done is harass me if I didn't bring my trash can up the minute it was emptied! All the folks on my cul-de-sac got letters about spraying the green stuff off the homes...it was in January! Sorry...not going to get out in the cold and do that. All my neighbors agreed. We did it in April. We did it because it needed it...not because of the letter.

cbear : I hear you however just know if you don't get approval the HOA can and will, depending on your covenants and board members, file a lawsuit and/or place a lien on your property. Check your documents as they dictate the actions of the HOA. If one resident complains to the HOA about another resident's actions that are non compliant, the HOA is obligated to enforce the deed restrictions.
