The VERY BEST Italian food 🥘 is found at Mama Dee's in Mpls., on the West Bank of the Mississippi River, near the University of Minnesota, Mpls. campus.

The Baked Rigatoni has got to be the best in the world 🌎!

On the weekends & more often than not, during the week, the line is out the door 🚪.

It's located near the famous Triangle Bar where Bob Dylan was a newbie.

BTW: @ Freebird, were you ever lucky enough to go there, or Dinkytown? Lol! I saw a car in Salem, Mass. with a Dinkytown sticker on the bumper.

Are you still craving Nut Goodies by the Pearson Candy Co? I am!!

Ever go to Mancini's on 7th St? Coolest, very old style Italian restaurant, expensively & ever so stylishly decorated in beautiful red leather.
Ever see Dorothy Truman, pianist, entertain there on New Year's Eve? She was my father's aunt, adorable & gorgeous, tiny Norwegian with all the spunk in the world. She was full of personality, right up to her passing at 103!

Sorry all, traveling down memory lane & hoping to visit those Hotspots this summer after my Mayo Clinic appt.

I'll buy a truckload of Baked Rigatoni to freeze & will share when I return. 4951

6) Jade Palace
7) JJ China Diner
8) Hin's Garden

Hin's is trash and always has been. Tastes like "mall" Chinese food. 4951

I won't do any Chinese food or buffets, unless it's a brunch buffet. Ok, except Curry House and I want to try Dimassi's. The hallway leading to the bathrooms is exceptionally gross, but the restaurant itself seems clean at Curry House. 4951

Only thing scarier than buying meat from a truck is buying seafood from a truck. 4951

We don't eat or order there any more, just didn't like them that much, pretty bland.
Yelp gives them 3 1/2 stars. Pretty much 4/5 stars or 1 star reviews. No middle ground.
Seems to be a love it or hate it kind of place. 4951

>> To the monsters defending this horrendous restaurant, I make one plea:
In order to help me prove my point, I want you to list your top 5 favorite restaurants.

@joshWa!:

If you're referring to Kingwood area restaurants, my top 5 are Marsala's in Huffman, Chimichurri's, Raffa's, Chez Nous, and Saltgrass.

Spork:

Marsalas is bottled Ragu on a plate. Saltgrass is barely palatable.
I'll give you the other three and toss in Pappas Seafood. We do need a Pappadeaux near the hood for the fifth.

ET: We tried Marsalas once, since it was supposed to be a lot like Hasta la Pasta. I just couldn't get into the whole thing, atmosphere, location, food, etc. I realize Huffman is no thriving metropolis, but it seriously felt like I had stepped out of a time machine that landed back in the 70s or something. We were so disappointed because adored HLP and this wasn't even close. Haven't been back.

I love mall Lo Mein! Greasy goodness. Only thing I liked from Hin's was honestly Cashew Chicken. I just prefer the quality of Oriental Gardens & Mencius. Mencius is so expensive though. I believe each restaurant has some items they do better than the rest -

Oriental Gardens -
Hunan Chicken/beef (Kung Pao)
House Special Shredded Pork
Szechuan Crispy Chicken
Peking Style Shredded Pork/Beef
Sesame Shrimp
Chicken Corn Soup
BBQ Pork Appetizer
Shrimp Stuffed Egg Plant

Mencius -
Cashew Chicken/Pork/Shrimp
Shrimp Toast
Chicken w/ Pine Seeds
Wonton Soup
Spicy Thai Fish
Mencius Beef
Lobster

Hunan Garden -
General Tso's Chicken
Mandarin Shrimp
Crab Puffs
Phoenix Shrimp
Crispy Fish
Hot & Sour Soup

Jade Palace -
Dinner (full size egg rolls, not the lunch) 4951
