Maybe it's because I'm not from here and it seems more euro to me but the black countertops all the way to me, both of the lighter ones just seem far too washed out on the light cabinetry.

Grey has had it's heyday. I'd not be selecting anything overly Grey. I did blue bottom cabinets, mushroomy-white uppers w whiteish quarts with veining in a Grey to charcoal Grey. It isn't grossly Grey.

Whichever you choose, I'd suggest you put the same on the island to match the other countertops, and EXPAND one side of the island so that you can put a few counter stools there for family to sit to visit, for snacks, breakfast, etc. Go to a lighting store to explore your options.
