Hey Ruger5 They adjusted the hurricane forecast numbers slightly higher than before. ****NO this is nothing to panic over and is common. I just know Ruger5 will get a kick out of it. 😜 BREAKING NEWS: Hurricane experts at Colorado State University have increased their numbers on tropical cyclone activity in the Atlantic Basin this hurricane season, which began Thursday.

StormChaser : I have a gut feeling this season is going to take us by surprise. Last time I had this 'gut' feeling was way way back during TS Alison. I wonder if Im a high priestess of bad weather?😳😳.

I remind everyone I do not prefer destructive storms of any kind……but I darn sure am mesmerized by Mother Nature's power. Storm watching is in my DNA. I embrace it . 🤗

Ruger5 : my granddaughter is fascinated with weather and storms. She watches the radar and would watch weather Channel nonstop if I would let her. Drives me crazy! I had to turn alerts off on her phone. She is in SD and sent me a text yesterday....FL is getting a hurricane.....I said, no, just rain. She is watching the dang weather in FL! She looks up where all her family is and looks at radar in their areas. I foresee a meteorologist in my future 😀

StormChaser : What were the numbers before? Wonder what their reasoning- maybe La Niña isn't as strong as predicted
At any rate I'm happy as a clam to be watching from afar. I still think Ruger5 might need a therapist for her obsession 🤣🤣

StormChaser : We'll Ike was nothing to laugh at. We ( personally) had the most damage from that that storm than anything. AND we are 70 miles in- can't imagine what a Cat3,4,5 would do on the same path as Ike! As I said I am happy to watch from afar- I'm over all that

Ruger5 : No gut feelings here, but I will say this: Galveston/Houston averages a category 3, 4, or 5 landfall every 25 years. Its been 40. (Hurricane Alicia; Aug 1983) Ike was a category 2 at landfall & Harvey made landfall in Rockport. At some point, it's going to be our turn. We have been incredibly lucky the last few years (especially 2020) with so many major storms just to our east into Louisiana. (or to our south into South Texas) There's no reason to panic but it is the reason everyone needs to stay prepared. Texas also has a lot of new residents who have never experienced a hurricane, and they will be panic buying. Pray for the best but prepare for the worst.

StormChaser : You make a great point about new residents and panic buying.
