I am helping a friend find a room to rent in the KW/Atas/Humble/Porter/New Caney area. There are several websites now that help match people to places. But we are concerned with scams and so forth. Some of them want money up front before even getting to see the home. Anybody have experience with this?

No experience with it but would suggest steering clear of those who want money up front. Sounds like a good way to still make money when showing a place that no one is likely to want to rent…or they don't have a place to rent at all.

No reason to give anyone a Penny, Before you see a property. That is a scam. I would look on Facebook local pages, before I used online websites, Craig's List, etc.

Sometimes there are posting at Lone Star looking for roommates. I suggest a roommate situation before a room rental. I just looked at AirBnb and they are wanting as much as an apartment to rent a room
