I can sympathize. I had inherited my dad's house and it flooded for the second time during Imelda.
Steve Toth did not deserve my vote. As Kingwood residents head to the polls this Tuesday, I am still haunted by the flooding of my home during Tropical Storm Imelda. According to FEMA's most recent document, we always should be high and dry. And yet, we did flood. The after effects of Harvey left silt, debris and stuff in the San Jacinto River, creeks, bayous and ditches. All this combined to inhibit the storm sewers from doing their job. They all needed maintenance. Yet, Mr. Toth voted three times against a non-taxing dredging district. That would put homes in danger of flooding again. Both he and I grew up in the Rochester NY area, with the Erie Canal running through our communities. They regularly are dredged and taken care of. That attention to detail keeps them functioning as they should. Please take this into consideration when you make your voting decision.

I am glad to hear that. It is scary to think that our political leaders are not TRULY informed and looking out for us. I certainly could not afford to have my home flood multiple times as you did.
Which is it Elm Grove or Hunters Ridge? They are 2 different communities and are not near each other.

The issue is that Lake Houston and the Erie Canal are manmade waterways and so nature can't resolve the silt issues as it normally would. There has to be intervention such dredging or cleaning out, otherwise they can be prone to flooding or disruption.
