Hello and welcome! My mom lived in the Oaks many years ago, as did a friend of mine -- they were in one of the townhome style apartments. I think my friends moved out almost a decade ago, so my info isn't current, but it was a very quiet community and they really liked it when they were there. It's also right across the street from the Houston Police Department Kingwood substation, so I'd imagine that imparts a level of security. I've lived in Kingwood most of my life, and I've heard complaints about many apartment complexes, but I can't recall hearing anything negative about the Oaks. My mom also lived in the Marquis for a while (this was probably close to 20 years ago), and she didn't have any complaints. It was pretty new then, so I don't know what it's like now, but it had more modern amenities, and she definitely appreciated its location.

definitely stay away from the jaxon - frankly stay away from that whole street. It's made the news a couple of times and not in a good way.

Depending on your commute, the town center traffic is more of an issue than flooding IMO. flooding happens occasionally along the streets in ALL areas of kw w enough rain. But traffic happens e v e r y s i n g l e d a y!

Thank you, this is a good point to consider. I would be working from home, so this would be less of an immediate concern. I am coming from a city where I've never driven, so I actually don't have my drivers license yet (!! I think this is super rare in Texas) I plan on taking lessons and getting it after moving. One of the things that drew me to the town center was the proximity of many businesses, which would also increase the number of rideshare options and make cycling a potential option.Would you recommend moving out of the town center area once I do get settled and have a car?

TC area woukd be perfect for you! Close to grocery, pharmacy and easy bike and walk areas. There are also events at TC all the time. You will love it.

Col76 : We have friends who lived in the Oaks while their home was recovering from one of our floods. They liked it there.
