Jnet :
I totally agree about not staying here. This has been the straw to break the camel's back for me. Even though I love my house/lot, I'm moving closer to one of my adult children after this.

Txbutterfly :
Thank you!!! I love your attitude. From time to time DH and I have considered and looked elsewhere but always end up deciding this is the best place. It's near family, convenient, reasonable economy, and it is home.

I moved to Texas to be closer to my daughter and her family. As long as you're near them, that's all that matters.

Just hung up with my daughter, she's ready to move too. There's gonna be a mass exodus out of Texas.

Family is so important and I am so grateful that my children are actively helping me! I was born in Texas and there are so many places to choose to live in this great state! We all plan to stay within the state!

Yipps : yes, but most call them dust storms and even the weather people issue dust storm warnings. They're cause by the outflow of a thunderstorm and the wind from it disrupts the sand and pushes it ahead of the storm. Many times it will rain and it will be mud. Sadly we didn't get rain last night when it finally went through. Lots of trees and big branches blown down. The stupid palo verde trees will lose big branches as the drop of a hat. I had to divert my walk a couple of times this AM to avoid trees and branches.heres a pic of the storm headed our way last night. Just wind- no thunder, lightening or rain, but somebody got rain.

Jnet : Props to you for self advocating and making hard choices for your well-being! I'm sure it's incredibly daunting to think of picking up and moving your entire life (or at least it is to me!). Go you!

IsisVale : Thank you! I am not from Kingwood or Houston originally. I am okay to eventually leave.

I am from Houston originally, and I think I'm getting okay to leave, too. 🤣 My parents moved to Luling a couple years ago to be near my grandmother, and my oldest kid lives in Austin, so with all this weather craziness, central Texas is looking better and better!

When all this settles down, my husband and I are going to sit down (with a large margarita) and decide what we are going to do after the last kiddo graduates next year.

IsisVale : Lulling is a nice area of Texas. I am from San Antonio originally and am considering anywhere central Texas.

A lot of people whom I have spoken to are considering the same idea!

FYI for those considering the Hill Country. There are substantive water issues there. The aquifers from which most water is derived are running really low. Similar to our issues with electricity across the state, the boom in population growth cannot really be serviced by the resource availability.

Thank you for the info. Am kinda used to that from living in SA and reliance on the Edward's aquifer. Good info to pass on. -Jnet
