Looks like y'all are in the clear as far as a major tropical system forming -

Luckily, the tropical disturbance near New Orleans has not strengthened and has only a slight chance for becoming a tropical depression before "landfall"

It's mainly going to be a rain-maker for Louisiana today and could bring Houston a round of storms tomorrow.

Other than that, the outlook is hot and mainly dry starting this weekend and for all of next week.

As expected, the tropical disturbance in the northern Gulf of Mexico is moving steadily westward and nearing the far eastern end of Southeastern Louisiana.

The center of the storm continues to hug the coast, which has limited intensification, and thus this system remains poorly organized.

The odds of it becoming a tropical depression or storm have been lowered to 30 percent this morning, and even this seems a little generous to me. It should move into Louisiana later today or tonight, bringing a chance of heavy rain to that state.

Impacts to Texas will be minimal, although parts of our area will see increased rain chances on Friday as a result of atmospheric moisture related to this system.

StormChaser : That is very good news! We don't have to go anywhere in the next few days, so when rain arrives (not yet here) we will just stay inside, watch the rain through our windows, and be glad our roof does not leak.

StormChaser : We just received a groceries delivery from Whole Foods, from the Metairie store which is across the river and between us and New Orleans. She said she has been driving in rain all morning with her deliveries across the river. She was surprised that we have not had any rain yet today.
