I'm all for competitive pay. But this sure seems like a lot? When I saw the numbers, I looked up the job description. I figured for that kind of money, they were more than police officers who start out here at about $57k. But I don't see it ? MissAmericanPie : I believe this pay raise is for the 8 elected constables not the deputy constables who patrol the streets. That being said I thought $178,000 of tax payer money was high to start with.

1836 : Yes they are the elected ones. I guess I'm confused. I agree at the $178 being a lot. But that job description is for the constables and I sure don't see much difference between that and a regular officer? Who makes $300k with just a HS education? Almost no one. Lol

MissAmericanPie : The regular deputy constables will not be getting that raise. Think of it like the elected sheriff and his deputy sheriff's. The elected constables run the precincts , the deputy constables carry out their edicts. Although both groups get paid too much in my opinion. 
MissAmericanPie : How can that possibly be a good idea. Not very many people make that kind of money. Seems to me a lot of money. And so very many people could do that job. Geez they are not doing brain surgery here.
Once again, the county commissioners are spending taxpayers' money like drunken sailors. It's to the point where nothing Lil' Lina and her cabal do surprises me.
