As others have stated above. Go to a reputable garage, not one of the quick change places. I've heard too many horror stories; anything from putting the wrong oil in to forgetting to tighten the drain plug properly (all oil leaking out) on up to forgetting to even put oil back in.
Tubec and Kittle reacted That place changed hands around covid or shortly after either way since the new owners took over it seems labor went way up. I go to the shop at the car wash in front of Lowes and they have been just fine but Beasley Tire mentioned they do them too since I got new tires so I will probably see how much they are next time.
I get my oil changed at Jiffy Lube on W Lake Houston. The manager,Joseph, runs the shop well.
I take mine to the dealer since they are currently free. Get an appointment for when they first open. Second person in line. Over two hours later, still there... I like free but it's ridiculous. When they are not free, I will go back to Valvoline. I will also add that I won't do the 10k between oil changes that many now recommend. I will stick to 5k.

You made the correct decision in walking out of there. You saved yourself alot of money, believe me when I tell you this.

I am one of those horror stories that did not end well for me. Thousands of dollars of damage for putting in the wrong part. Had to get a tow truck to get vehicle off Kingwood Drive. No refund on damage caused. They wanted to repair at my expense. I had vehicle towed to another shop.
