The days of just remembering everything simultaneously are historic - labeled timers for everything lest I forget why I set a timer. Yes, it has happened.
I set timers for everything, too. I try to remember to do them on my cell, and take my cell With me, to the other room. Like Ruger, I just put some rice on to cook, and then went to put away clothes I had hanging to dry. Did NOT put the timer on my cell, and I apparently did not hear the 'ding' of that timer in the kitchen..and I was within 30 seconds of burned rice, and the smell and mess of that :0 Life of a Multi-tasker.
I stopped doing them in the oven and use a pan on the stove. Because it is gas, I will stay in the kitchen....

My husband would eat them he loves anything burnt. Must be from his Moms cooking because I don't burn stuff.

Having an Apple Watch helps . I put timers on the watch otherwise my phone would be indoors and I would be outdoors. For rice I highly recommend an electric rice pot that keeps rice hot without burning for quite some time.
