Good morning all. Has anyone heard anything about the stoppage of large trash? Wife saw something about the large trash services being stopped and us having to call to get it picked up and it would be limited to 4x a year. I have not seen anything on it.

Here's the link to the previous discussion. I'm not always good with the search features on the website, so I wasn't sure if I could find it.

I went back and found the news article she was talking about. Thankfully where we live, we are not annexed for the city and we have people come around all the time looking through trash to see what they can salvage.

The city says the old system wasn't working. Crews were driving every street, even ones with no trash set out? causing major delays and backlogs.

Croix : From ABC 13: 📢 HOUSTON: Big changes coming to heavy trash pickup! Starting March 2, Houston residents will need to call 311 to schedule heavy trash collection instead of waiting for regular pickup days. Here's what you need to know: 📞 Call 311 to request pickup 📅 Collection completed within 5 working days 📸 You'll receive photos confirming completion 4️⃣ Each address gets up to 4 pickups per calendar year ✅ You'll get a call or email with your appointment WHY THE CHANGE? The city says the old system wasn't working. Crews were driving every street, even ones with no trash set out? causing major delays and backlogs. "We're riding streets that have no heavy trash on them, and we're spending weeks there," said Solid Waste Director Larius Hassen. Until March 2, the normal schedule remains in place. Send this to someone in Houston who needs to know!

StormChaser : They really weren't. They were skipping some months. People were complaining and I think that's why they're changing it because we complain when we didn't get our service.
sweetie : I just copied and pasted. I think it's BS. Even if it's true, that's part of their contract. So now you pay more & get less? I'm glad we have Best Trash.
Croix : In Forest Cove that's what's happening. I hate that. We were getting it every other month now we have to make a call and then wait up to five days. This is not what we bargained for when they annex us. It was supposed to be equal or better service.
sweetie : Nothing is better and it won't be ..every time some excuse...it's getting old
acteon : It is getting very old. Do you think they would do this to the people in River Oaks? No of course not. We're like their redheaded stepchild.
Yes, we are grateful to have Best Trash. Just think what our streets would look like with heavy trash pick up only four times per year. SMH
