bigcity : pretty sure this is a gamble all are ready to make, even many Democrats. It's too big a show to have so many sideshows interfering with the management of the county's business.

I voted for her. Would have voted for Ed Emmett if he had run as an independent.This is a big and important job- Harris Co has more people than 25 states. It is evident she had trouble coping with the stress of the job. She had some rough moments (the child care vote was embarrassing) but she did a better job than most people on this forum like to admit, particularly during Harvey, which would certainly have tested any executive's mettle. It is not a given that she would have lost reelection (this is a blue county) and it shows a certain amount of maturity to step aside. But all in all, it's probably good for someone else to have their turn.
