@cnmmom82 : that sucks for yall so sorry . The city saying one thing then fema saying something I would get so mad hope you got to salvage some things of your life & we know it's painful memory . I think most of us just want it gone so no more fires, squatters & criminal things to happen. @Stella2020 : this was from last November, there were a few people then that had several properties that had not sold yet- that all happened in December of last year. The property issue was uncovered recently when a few people started asking-ok what now...what is going on we all sold so why is it still there??? We want it gone too. I am so ready to have a beautiful park there i can walk my dogs and enjoy the areas beauty. 4951

the 3 lines are the 3 pieces of land. the one on the riverbank - that building was falling down that is why they could take it down. 4951

The buyouts always take years and year and are a giant mess. This location looks like one of them that makes more sense but my rant below on the rest...Typically any of the mitigation efforts by the feds are a joke. Hurricane Sandy is a perfect example where FEMA paid 30k a house to tens of thousands to elevate them. Mind you many of these homes had been there 20-50 years plus and never flooded. I knew people who had homes that were 100 years old and flooded twice in the history then got 30k from FEMA (and often tens of thousands more from the state which was given the money from the feds) to elevate their house. Point I'm making it s huge amount of money for little impact and the red tape associated usually makes it worthless 4951

@cnmmom82 : I'm sorry for your loss! I lived here when the 1994 flood happened. We had to evacuate family at a moment's notice due to flash flood. The waters were swift and rose so quickly that they only had minutes to leave. It was a very scary time.Those townhouses should have been torn down in '94 to save you and others from losing everything. 4951
